Optimarin has developed the Optimarin Ballast System (OBS), an environmental ballast water treatment system based on filtration and the use of ultraviolet (UV) radiation to effectively remove and neutralize sea organisms.
OBS is one of the few purification systems that does not use or produce chemicals or biocides during processing or purification. It is based on the idea that such systems should be environmentally friendly, simple, versatile, easy to install and able to operate on both new and existing ships.
